10 things I learned about divorce

by Tracey 6/29/2009 3:29:00 PM

NOT BECAUSE I'M GETTING ONE - let me clear that up right here and now.  :)  The paper I wrote this past weekend was about divorce.  I learned some interesting facts.

  1. 1 out of 2 marriages - that is 50 % - end in divorce.
  2. most marriages end in divorce within the first 10 years.
  3. most remarriages end in divorce in less than 7 years.
  4. Couples who "cohabilitate" have a greater chance of divorcing.
  5. having a higher education (vs. being a high school dropout) increases the probability that your marriage will succeed.
  6. so does having an income over $50,000 (vs. $25,000).
  7. so does having kids after the first 7 months of marriage (vs. having kids before marriage.)
  8. and so does having parents that are still married.
  9. couples spend more time and energy on advancing the man's career, thus leaving the woman less able to support herself (and children) when divorced.
  10. because a divorce usually occurs after the first 10 years, the ages of children involved are very young.  These children do not have the cognitive abilities to understand the complexities of divorce.  They also do not have the vocabulary to express their feelings about what is happening.  This leaves children feeling rejected, at fault, confused, frustrated, and angry.

Stewart's First 2k - Cougar Challenge, June 27, 2009

by Tracey 6/29/2009 12:59:00 PM

Stewart ran in his first 2k this weekend.  Bill ran with him (to keep him from getting lost on the trail.  He earned a ribbon and was so proud of himself!  This is his second race, the Race for Recess in May was his first.  He is a little disappointed that the race t-shirts that he earned do not come in his size.

He finished in 16:49.

Bill ran the 5k portion of the Cougar Challenge.  Last year he ran and got first place in his age group.  This year he also got first place in his age group.  He finished in 19:12.

NICE FORM!

Charging for the finish line.

Bill being chased by some guys with very serious expressions.

They are still chasing him in the final stretch.

You may not see me post much in July

by Tracey 6/26/2009 7:35:00 AM

I have FIVE papers due in July.

  1. 12-15 pages -
  2. 3-5 pages - Do you believe the American family is in a state of decline or just changing?
  3. 3-5 pages - What is the biggest challenge facing American families today.
  4. 7 pg minimum - on a topic we covered in class (Children & Stress)
  5. 7 pg minimum - on a topic we covered in class (Parenting)

My mind is exhausted thinking about it.

Flashback - Race for Recess 5k

by Tracey 6/22/2009 9:57:00 AM

The photographer that we met at the race took some beautiful pictures of the boys.  I think I can post them here as long as I give her full credit for having taken the photos (?).  www.photoscheff.com

I don't know what lens she used but my skin looks awesome.  Parker's skin looks so creamy.

I would also like to point out that is a picture of Bill crossing the finish line, first place, a good minute before the next finisher.  He doesn't even look winded or sweaty.

This is my fav pic.  It shows the true dynamic of their personalities - Stewart is very happy and Parker is very serious.  You can kinda see how light Parker's hair is.

June 12-13th - Hershey Park

by Tracey 6/22/2009 9:41:00 AM

THis was a really great trip.  I didn't take as many pictures because we were having so much fun.  The waterpark was probaby my favorite.

Stewart and I rode some real rollercoasters.  He was very brave.  He wanted to sit in the very front.  His little hands were gripping the bar so tight and he had his eyes squeezed shut each and every time.  We rode the super duper looper 3 times in a row.  I was feeling a bit dizzy after that.  (there was no line, we just walked up and go on.)

Parker is very apprehensive about EVERYTHING.

Stewart & I and a big kiss!

Look at his cute little teeth!

Stewart was having a great time driving this "truck" - it was a baby ride!

Dad - these two pics are for you.  I know how much you LOOOOVE the big pirate ship!

Photo Overload!

by Tracey 6/22/2009 9:16:00 AM

I kindeve have a break in work and school this week.  So let me take this moment to upload some pics.  It has taken me forever and a day to get these up but in my defense, I am trying to wrangle the 3 Bondurant boys (that includes the husband), work, take 15 hours of class, and squeeze in some exercise.  I need more time!

This is a pic from Stewart's Kindergarten graduation ceremony.  They did a little play about nursery rhymes.  It was cute.

Stewart proudly showing his dollar he earned while at my office.
