My Skin is STILL freakin out

by Tracey 9/18/2008 12:29:00 PM

I am starting to wonder if my hormones are all messed up postpartum.  My skin is wacky.  Big time.  I have rashes all over.  Seriously.  Let me see if I can list them out, left shoulder, left elbow, the inside of my left elbow, left upper arm on the inside, left upper arm on the outside, back of my left shoulder, this spot on the left side of my neck, on the inside of my left knee, and on the left side of my chest.  And now on to the rght side - i have a 3 inch long strip of rash on my right wrist, my right upper arm, the inside of my right upper arm, back of my right shoulder, and also on the right side of my chest, and behind my right ear. AND MY SCALP IS ITCHY!

I think I am allergic to something in the house but I haven't figure it out yet.  I thought maybe it might be the dryer sheets because I changed to the generic Wal-Mart brand the last night we ran out.  So i stopped using them a week ago and I'm still itchy.  I have weird skin sometimes.  When I was pregnant with Stewart, i got this massive awful horrible, terrible, super itchy rash all over my big pregnant tummy.  And it was horrible because no one wanted to give a pregnant lady any medicine and I suffered with that stinkin rash for about 3-4 months.  I remember sleeping with cold wet towels on my tummy cause it helped ease the itching.  And then, by chance, I discovered Sarna and it was the lifesaver I was looking for.  I had a bottle of it at work.  A bottle in the bathroom, the bedroom, and downstairs.  I remember being at work and having to go to the bathroom every 90 minutes to rub more Sarna on my tummy.  And then, as soon as I had Stewart, the rash disappeared.  I read a bunch about PUPP but none of the Dr's ever officially diagnosed me with PUPP.  Whatever it was, it was horrible.

I went to the dr about this on August 27th and she gave me a prescription for cortizone cream and prednisone.  I have used up my whole tube of cortizone cream and I took the prednisone as prescribed and I am still all itchy.  I called today to see if they could call in something else because I don't want to have to go and make another stupid co-pay.  Between this and the infection on my leg, I've been to the dr 6 times.  I don't have $90 for co-pays plus prescriptions budgeted!  I'm usually very healthy!

So I go back to the stupid dr tomorrow at 8am.  I think i should really go to a dermatologist but i really really don't want to make the co-pay for seeing a specialist!  I am starting to feel like follow-up appointments should be billed differently so I don't have to pay every time.  They will get their money from the insurance company. Cool
